Some Highlights of My Artistic Antics
Yes, I know this is supposed to be my offical artistic C.V. but for some reason I really dislike the pretentious sounding term and therefore have never really compiled one. I am also a terrible archivist…and have not kept very accurate records, but these are the artistic shenanigans and projects I do remember fondly. So not a CV per se but a quick stroll down memory lane.
Alchemy Studios 2001 - Present
I am one of the founding members of the cooperative art studio and gallery Alchemy Studios in Sechelt. We have staged several events including ATC trading card sessions, arts shows, slide shows, readings, workshops and of course our famous parties. We are a member of the Coast Cultural Alliance and were recently filmed by the local cable company for their piece on local studios. It’s a great space.
Artist in Residence Berlin 2005
Possibly the most exciting thing I have ever done artistically. Myself and three other Canadian artists were artists in residence in Berlin Germany for six weeks in the fall of 2005. We had our own group show and then two of us stayed onto participate in the International Assemblage Show. I am still trying to find a way to move there…
Hullabaloo 1992-2001
I was the owner operator of a small business that provided art and juggling workshops, event decorations, and public art installations. Some of the memorable festivals include Sechelt Storytelling festival, Filburg Festival, Sunshine Coast Summer Craft Fair, Gibsons Folk Festival, Powell River Folk Festival, B.C. Place Scouts Day.
Xactomundo 1996-1998
Xactomundo was my award winning cartoon strip than ran from 1996 - 1998. That retrospective book I have been working on for a decade will be coming out any day now.
Imagination Market 1985-1991
I was one of the founding members of the award winning non profit Imagination Market that promoted art from re-claimed and found objects. We did workshops, events, set decorations and operated two retail stores. Thousands of people participated in the fun throughout B.C., Alberta and Washington USA over the years. We did festivals and events all over the place!
Vancouver International Children’s Festival 1985-2001
I participated in this amazing event first with Imagination Market between 1985-1989 and then with People to People Playworkers between 1992-2001. With People to People Playworkers I was a performer and creator of Public Sculptures on a grand scale. We made slides, mazes, mosaics, held vegetables elections and staged mock weddings and much more. Good times!
I am a visual artist and though I don’t seem to seek out a lot of exhibiting opportunities, I have done many, many shows over the years..some highlights include,

Some other art projects include doing the illustrations for two books, the building of two parade floats (I should have learned from the first time in both cases) created a series of original hand cut silkscreen T-shirt illustrations, have been a graphic artist and web designer, and created and sold two lines of jewelry. Through all this I have worked full time and raised two great kids. Whew!
